Late latex allergy

Using condoms only at the moment before TTC - love Durex Invisible because they really feel almost as if there's nothing there. But just recently I've noticed some soreness afterwards - not immediately, but like if I have sex at bedtime then when I wake up next morning my vagina feels sore and feels like that for a few hours. Very rarely used condoms since being with DP - just when missed pill etc - but I used them regularly for five years when I was single and I guess most of them must have been latex (normally just went with what my date had with him) and had no problems. So could I have developed a latex allergy in the meantime? I thought it was something you had or didn't have and that was it.

Allergies can come on later in life, especially with repeated exposure to the allergen. Skyns make a very thin latex free condom. I used them in the past...the feel was most excellent!

Allergies to things that have proved never to have previously been a problem are well documented. They can, and do, suddenly develop for no apparent reason. Looking on the positive side, you at least seem to have identified the problem at an early stage.

Thanks @Sparkybloke and @xpc316e. I bought a pack of Skyn Intense Feel yesterday and we used one last night and just now. Wonderful - no soreness and even less 'there' than Durex Invisible. In fact, I had to ask him to pull out this morning to check it hadn't come off because I could feel - well just him Blush So glad there are condoms like these around these days. will keep an eye also on how I react to other latex things like washing up gloves - haven't noticed any problem yet, but maybe the vagina is just more sensitive to any allergy issues. So thanks again - while we're using condoms, we might as well get the best experience we can Smile

@Annwen....Thanks for your reply and glad to help. The skynn ones are very good. I'd imagine if you do have an allergy some areas will be more sensitive than others.....but you can certainly get latex free washing up gloves. J

I am allergic to latex. Normal condoms would cause skin inflamation and itchiness. I switched to the 'Durex Latex Free' which solved the problem.

As for allergies later in life: I've always had the latex allergy, but only developed pollen allergies int he last decade or two, so it can happen, anecdotally anyway.

Thanks again everyone. Really pleased with the Skyn ones - we've used four of them by now and no problems at all. Will be recommending all my friends to use them when they need to use condoms - very nearly like not using condoms Smile xx
