Is it okay to have hair down there?

Is it okay not to shave your pubes?! When I was younger and had a lot more time on my hands I would quite often shave my vagina but I always hated it. I was never any good at it, I have sensitive skin and would grow back itchy and prickly. So a few years ago I stopped. I only trim now and maybe shave round the top of my legs. It’s not a bush but hair is also very fair so I thought it was okay to do this.

Ladies, how many of you don’t shave? Men do you mind a lady having pubes?

I’ve been with my partner for 6/7 years and he’s always said that he doesn’t mind either way as long as I don’t have a massive bush (I shaved at the beginning of our relationship but don’t know anymore) but he knows I hate shaving so might be just saying he doesn’t mind hair as he knows I hate doing it!!

Waxed so much better. Sensitive, feels nice and makes nice lingerie good to wear. From husbands point of view, he couldn't imagine me with a bush down there and the attention he shows is well worth it!

Smooth here too. Prefer the look and feel of it. DH trims his too for the same reasons and we're both happy.

I don't think he'd be overly bothered if I let mine grow a bit but it's personal preferance for both of us to keep things well mowed.

Completely fine either way. My oh gets me to shave her...

Smooth here - makes me feel clean, is more sensitive and couldn't bring myself to let anyone go down there if I had a bush on me but it's your body so whatever you're happy with is fine, there is no right or wrong!
Personally i dont like complete smoothness on a man though, neatly trimmed yes but not bald!

My DP loves me hairy 'down there' but we are both just over 50 so maybe that makes a difference? In fact, he's happier if I don't wax my leg and underarms as well (but he only gets that wish between November and April 😁) Unless I'm going to a swimming pool (rarer than hens' teeth!) then I stay unwaxed in my publc area all year round!, 👍

Believe it or not, many men genui/privately prefer un unwaxed/unshaven pubic area - but they don't have the confidence to say so! (Possibly one of the greatest modern day misconceptions on both sides!)

It's so concerning (i have multiple DD) that women think men don't want public hair on their female DPs. Sad

Very rarely post but just to follow up on MrsFrankDrebin....I much prefer a lady to be hairy. I love a bush and for me it makes zero difference when engaging in oral sex. Trim if you like but don't shave it all off. Women should have pubic hair IMO. Just a 50+ blokes take...

as a man, I love smooth and I love a trimmed bush too. Something about sliding a hand down over my dp's abdomen and feeling the crispy hair just gets me going...Blush
Also love small boobs and big ones. I think that sometimes women can get too worried about being perfect - there's no such thing as perfect and in general men aren't all picky. We like to play with whatever you've got

I also used to shave all the time when I was younger. I’ve stopped caring and only trim and shave a bit of the sides so it’s a nice shape! My partner even says he prefers it this way Grin

I prefer to be completely smooth down there, but of course it’s fine if you don’t.

I think hair is sexier. It shows you are not too young but just the right age.

I've posted this before, but my top tips for shaving without irritation. This literally takes me 90 seconds every 2 days.

Buy mens shaving products. They shave their faces every day and their products are better designed for regular shaving. Plus why pay £2 extra for a pink handle?!

Buy a good quality shaving gel. I use Nivea Mens Sensitive Skin Cooling Gel. Again buy mens products.

Shave your pubes BEFORE you get in the shower. Gel on over dry skin, razor off and run razor under hot tap after every sweep.

Prop each leg up on the loo seat, bath edge, whatever to get easy access to crevices where pubes hide from you

Remember to spread your labia to shave off any hairs growing on mucous membranes (I'm a hairy fucker so have a lot)

After shaving just jump in the shower but do NOT use any soap products inside your vagina. They will upset the pH balance.

I used to use a men's aftershave balm on my shaved areas to try to avoid ingrown hairs, but IME ingrown hairs are often a result of two areas of skin rubbing together. If you can wear mainly cotton pants to keep them apart (or just walk around naked!) you will almost certainly have less ingrown hairs.

But for defiinite since I started using mens products I've experienced way less problems. I'd rather pay £5 a month for a new Gilette blade than spend £4 a month on a stupid pink handled razor that doesn't even have 3 blades.

Jesus. This post makes me feel so sad, and also angry.

OF COURSE IT IS OKAY to be naturally hairy in your beloved, special, unique and pleasure-giving genital areas. Sad Whoever said it wasn't? We are mature adult women and hair grows there naturally. It shows we're mature, fully past puberty and sexual human beings. Not being hairy is ok too, if you want to go to the hassle, pain and irritation of somehow removing the natural hair, but it has to be your choice.

Not the choice of an unimaginative partner who watches too much plastic porn. Not the choice of a society brutalised by images of 'ideal' women and pornography-influenced beauty. Not the choice of a man (or woman) who thinks less of you because you've decided not to mow the lawn.

If you prefer not to shave (arghh prickly!) or use creams or wax or whatever, if you're happier hairy, then find yourself a partner who loves you like that. Someone who would pressurise their partner into removing their natural pubic hair as a condition of that relationship, or of having sex, isn't worth your time or emotional energy.

I’m with uncomfortablesecret - I’m so sad we are at a point where people are asking if it’s okay to have hair on a private part of your body only seen by your sexual partner. Legs and underarms, revealed by clothes - sure, I get it, that’s a tough taboo to overcome and I wouldn’t be comfortable.

But I am not ripping out / shaving off my pubes for anyone, unless I want to for myself, and frankly when I did want to for myself (as I used to do as a young woman) it was because of the social pressure to do so.

I suppose I’m lucky that my DH would genuinely enjoy sex less if I got rid of my pubic hair. We are only in our 30s, but I know that all of his early glimpses of naked women (magazines, VHS porn etc) the women all had a good bush. The only reason that men are so opposed to pubic hair these days is because they’re growing up seeing women that way in porn.

There’s the argument that “it feels nicer” - sure, but I’m sure having a shaved head in summer would feel nicer than having hair, and yet very few women do that while so many wax or shave off their pubic hair. It’s not a coincidence.

I feel better when I’ve shaved my legs, having hairy legs makes me feel grotty - but it’s not because I’m actually grotty, it’s because I’ve been told as I’ve grown up that it’s gross for women to have hairy legs, so having hairy legs makes me feel gross.
