Bleeding - advice please

Name changed for this as I'm embarrassed.
But I need urgent advice.
I haven't had sex for over ten years mainly due to having had serious MH illness.
I'm 42 & I'm not menopausal.

I take Cerazette the mini pill which has stopped my periods as I get bad pmt.
It can cause breakthrough bleeding but I haven't had this as I take it at the same time daily.
But I do masturbate probably weekly & for the last few months have ended up bleeding from my vagina. I'm not too dry down there or too rough so I can't understand it.
I know I need a smear test but I've never had a successful smear test as can't relax enough.

I know I should see a female doctor but I'm too embarrassed to admit to why I've been bleeding.
What can I say to the doctor??
I'm really worried something is wrong with me.
Plus I've now got better mental health & have started dating again - im scared that if I was to try to have sex I may bleed everywhere. Help!!

Tell the doctor everything you just told us. The doctor won't even blink. Seriously. If it makes you feel better I have had to mention masturbation to a doctor before now and they didn't even raise an eyebrow.

It’s not a case that you should see a doctor, you MUST see a doctor.

Masturbation should not make you bleed. Nor is it anything to be ashamed of. I live a full and healthy sex life but l also masturbate once or twice a day. Why am I telling uou this? Because it’s normal. I want to demonstrate that. Women have needs.

Your health is important, both mental and physical, so pleass speak to your doctor.

Best wishes
X

I hope you've made an appointment OP.

It could be perimenopause but always good to get these things investigated.
