Had my copper coil removed yesterday...now what for contraception?

We're using condoms for now but I'm wary of relying on them solely.

Hormones and me don't get on well and after 4 years with grief with the copper coil, I'm reluctant to get another one.

Unsure where to go from here Sad

Anyone any ideas?

Diaphragm?

Are you sure it's all hormones that don't work for you, maybe it was just the particular pill or whatever it was that you were on? There are many options such as the mini pill, injection, or implant. (I would not recommend the implant though It's very bad).

Mirena

You might find it useful to have a browse in the contraception topic where there are threads about most available methods and experiences (good and bad) about using them.

I've got a Mirena and it's been brilliant. I know it's not right for everybody but I wouldn't use anything else now

I'm having my 3rd mirena fitted next week. I tried everything before the mirena, the pill made me horrendous to live with, the mini pill was too time constricting in the time to take it. With the injection I did not get periods and I just worried about being pregnant the whole time. The copper coil just gave me heavy periods 60% of the time.
I do not get any hormone side affects with the mirena, as its very localised. I had not had a period for 12 years, but again started last month, hence the reason for getting it changed 2 months early.
