Painful sex after c-section

Hi all

DD is now 3.5 months after a non emergency c section.

We waited for 6 weeks to DTD but it was, and still is, v painful. It's a burning sensation when OH tries to push in and out, and gallons of lube do nothing!

Has anyone else had this for such a long time, and how did you fix it? It's making me dread trying, which if course makes me clench up (and not in a good way!).

Thanks!!

Sorry to hear this scared. We first dtd about five weeks after an emcs and the first time was a little uncomfortable but it was all fine after that. I would consider going to see your doctor for a check up to see if there is a problem. Hope all is ok.

Not specific to c-section, but this article is really close to my experience of post-baby sex. Take your time and get creative. Also get it checked out if it's hurting. www.telegraph.co.uk/women/sex/sex-after-giving-birth-isnt-better---its-complicated-scary-and-p/

I had this, my cervix was very low despite section - I didn't expect that since I didn't give birth naturally. I had 6 hours of trying before EMCS.

It took pelvic floor exercises, lots of lube and a patient and thoughtful husband, and another 6 weeks until I felt more normal inside. The pain went completely.

Thanks ladies. I think I'll try a better lube - the pre-baby tasty dicklick is perhaps a bit ambitious!!! - and if that doesn't work, see the GP.

I thought a c section would avoid all this... Sigh!!!

(Actually it's really not tasty; who makes these things?!)

This happened to me for a couple of months too. It will get better!

Are you breastfeeding? This happened to me and my GP referred me to a gynaecologist who said I had lactational atrophic vaginitis. It's due to low oestrogen levels. And it's more common in women who've had c sections.

Just wanted to update in case anyone is searching for the same issue - by 5 months it's much better! Not quite right yet, but massive improvement and still improving! Woohoo Grin
