I have been to one event and there was no obligation to perform and it was well policed by the staff there and although i never took part i was not made to feel unwelcome and the people there were friendly and non pushy, There are usually well run clubs in most large towns around the UK just google and stay away from the adhoc ones at a strangers house etc
