I teach Languages and this is my favourite time of the year with Year 7s, as they are usually brimming with enthusiasm! It's a fairly new subject for most (primary languages still fairly ad-hoc except in a few cases) so they are curious about it and can't wait to tell me to tell me that they said 'gracias' in Benidorm this summer, or they saw Dora the Explorer saying 'excelente' and secretly know what it means!
I try to savout these months, come Christmas many of them lose the enthusiasm as puberty hits and self-consciousness takes over, so that singing a daft song about the days of the week becomes a mortal shame....

I don't teach any year 7s this year, which is really . God I love them. You only have to say the words "bunsen burner" for them to practically weep with excitement

Groovy and popular RE teacher here.

I have a very funny class of year 7s, last year I had the grammar stream so it was all quite serious. This year have a middle class who keep beckoning me over to their lockers to look at their homework. I had to tell one boy off last week for being silly in our relaxation session, he went and told his form tutor I told him off for nothing as my brain was addled by incense I asked him about this and he said his form tutor must be wrong and maybe she finds early mornings difficult.
