Summerhill - any children/parents with opinions?

Have just been looking at the website and am intrigued. I can't work out what it would be like and would love to hear from any pupils/ex-pupils/parents of pupils/ex-pupils. Am looking at alternative schools for my 6 year old son, currently at local primary.

Are there any others you know of in East Anglia, cpanda? Or is there a directory somewhere? All those other places listed are too far away for me.

Coming late to the discussion the most messed up person I know went to Summerhill - no details but a seriously unhappy case and a lot of it was down to the school. Friends of his likewise.

Admitteldy this was a while ago, so things may have changed, but I do think to attend a school like that and thrive you need to be a sorted, confident type. If you're muddled in any way I think you become more muddled.

I'd also be interested to know about other places like these in East Anglia. We HE at the moment but are considering secondary places for the children when they're older. Summerhill is first choice for the older two but I know we'll never afford it.
