he is being ridiculous, and not accepting that he needs to know how to work out the area of a circle, using pi x radius squared.
can a teacher please tell me to that kids have covered how to work out the area of a circle using pi, coz he is being ridiculous, and saying it is a level stuff

I am a maths teacher and I find my students enjoy this catchy youtube song about area and circumference of circles: here

This is level 7 work so is usually covered in year 8 but it may be covered with high ability year 7s.

DD is in the top maths in Yr 7 and when I asked her she said she had never heard of pi. When I asked her how to get the area of a circle she tried squaring it off, but was baffled after that, and yet area and perimeter is the topic they have just covered.
