Ds tells me that bbc bitesize is aimed towards getting a 'C' grade & not so much use if you are aiming for A or A*. He may be wrong of course, but iGCSE maths is a bit different to GCSE in any case. Some of the harder bits are more like C1 AS level. He didn't know of any other suitable sites though.

What's wrong with books? Or I am old fashioned. What's more interactive than a book - the dog eared the better.

my DD is doing past papers and using her text book/execise book to revise maths. I prefer her not to use websites because it turns into a facebookathon s-cool.co.uk is quite good if he needs a website.

Past papers, past papers ...
And do them timed (my kitchen timer is now living in DS2's bedroom as A2 exams loom).

marmitebabe · 23/04/2009 13:46

Mymaths and sam learning and ban msn, facebook, myspace, yahoo, skype etc etc etc

Beetroot · 23/04/2009 16:43

past papers are fine but a bit boring to do them day in day out (not that he has)

To say 'what is wrong with book" is just plain silly - websites have been developed, kid are computer literate and why not sue them?

or do you not use a dishwasher or washing machine - because fgs - what is wrong with hands?...

anyway he is aiming for A* - a year early and needs to revise specific stuff. He does one past paper a week - is enough I think!!

Have you checked with the school? On ds's school website FirstClass which I think is a national thing, they have tons of resources for all the exams, for free.

All the websites mentioned are good, I use BBC alot. Also www.keysformaths.com is excellent and gives very detailed info on what you are good at and what you need help with. Revision guides are useful but I know my DS doesn't want to read them, would rather do something online - how times have changed
