How to persuade the teens to revise for GCSE. Any advice?

DD has 3 Science modules at GCSE in May and isn't putting any effort into revising at all. I'm nagging I know I can hear myself. She is bright and should be getting top grades (having to resit physics as she only got a high B) which was below her target of A*.

She hasn't had to work before so perhaps doesn't know how to. Her peers are mostly getting stuck in to their revision.

I realise it's her exams her responsibility but I want her to achieve her potential.

Should I keep nagging or just butt out?

Could you help her to make a revision timetable? That can help to cut it down into managable chunks.

Keep at it.

I would suggest using her school timetable as a model revision plan. Get her to revise those subjects at those times and give pc time/hair straighteners/mobile phone privileges during break times only.

Thanks, we are going to make a timetable together. based on your suggestions. She still has a few more weeks. We will look at her school planner and work it out.

Money. You would be amazed at the number of kids who are receiving finiancial incentives to revise. £50 for each A is the going rate in the school where I teach.

It is worth a go if the timetabling advice does not work - along with disabling MSN etc

I could stretch to £30 per A*. No pressure there .

Good idea about a bit of bribery.

It is hard sin't it.
I would try and sit with her some of hte time and go thorugh stuff, test her, etc - then she won't feel so alone.

dh sat down with DS today and went through his Maths with him..think it helps
