What does level 5 as a target for Yr 9 equate to?

DS#1's tutor tells us that level 5 is their target. Is that a 'good' grade or a basic attainment level? DS is in yr7 and has 4 for most subjects and 5 for science. Is he supposed to coast now? Or should he be setting his sights higher. I am at sea tbh.

sorry, L6=B, not A.

I've posted on your other thread.

A '5' for the end of yr9 is the 'target' the government sets that 'most students' should achieve. If they can get a 5 at KS3 they should be able to achieve a 'C' for GCSE two years later.

A challenging target would be 2 full levels of progress between end KS2 and end KS3. Some schools set lower targets than this for particularly weak students and higher targets for more able students.

Thankyou.

According to DS they change his targets at the end of the year. However I will try to speak to his tutor anyway. I definitely don't want him to just drfit now.
