Gift to say thank-you for organising a placement

I am applying for the PGCE in secondary education in september. The course advised me to fix up a week observing teacHing in a local comprehensive. This I have just done through a friend of a friend. I shadowed a Year 9 pupil for 2 days, then observed lessons in my specialist subject for 3 days.

I was aware that the staff are very busy, and was grateful that they arranged this placement for me.

Would you think it appropriate to give a card and a present? I was going to give the Year 9 girl a box of Roses. The teacher who organised it is pregnant with diabetes so chocolates not an option. Any ideas of what I should give if anything.

TIA

A box of biscuits for the staff room is the normal present.

If you want to get something for just the one teacher, that isn't edible, then something like a mug (eg my favourite teacher, or soemthing to do with their subject), or a bunch of flowers.

Kids seems to like snazzy pens and pencils.
