Throwing a snowball at a younger friend classed as bullying!

That's what one of my children was told this week. The younger child is the year below - actually about 6 months younger than mine - and was, of course, throwing snowballs back.

So are any other schools suggesting snowball fights can only be with those in the same year?

Most schools have no snowball fights at all. I'm surprised they are allowed.

Are you sure that he was told that? By a teacher?

Well that's what he said and I see no reason to doubt it as he wasn't actually telling me, just muttering to someone else. They also made a snowman together - which was then destroyed by the sixth form to build a bigger one. That seems more like bullying to me.

It would be difficult to stop snowball fights as the school has sports pitchs the children would go on.

"Bullying" is sustained, on-going, deliberate unprovoked victimisation of someone. I can't see how a two-way snowball fight, or knocking down of a snowman, however annoying, would qualify.

I would check with the teacher - I'm afraid I very rarely take anything my children tell me about things like this at face value - there is so much scope for exaggeration, misunderstanding, half hearing, forgetting, Chinese whispers.......

My friend had to have staples in her head after some one threw a snowball at her.

Maybe incidents like this is why they are a no no?
