We are a forces family considering senior BS for our 2 DDs. We have been a looked at a few senior schools but Habs Monmouth stuck out to us and we were really impressed.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the school or local knowledge etc that they would be willing to share with me!! Any info gratefully received. We have only seen the school once on an open day so any info would be great. Good or bad.
We are a few years off yet, as DD wont be going until 13+ (yr9)! We are yet to look at a few other schools but from the ones we have seen so far, this is the current favourite!

Hope someone can help!

Thumbs up for both Llandovery and Christ College, but you definatly need to see both, as they are very different schools.

you dont have boys so the only issue with Llandovery would be they seem to offering scholarships for 6th form boys who excel at rugby, meaning if your son has played rugby for the school all through, by the time he gets to 6th form (if he stays ) his chance of playing for the school 1sts, are pooped. (this has caused a little unrest amongst some parents)

Both schools seem to have upped thier game for day pupils, and having travelled 20 odd miles daily to school myself it wasn't that horrifc.

I am laughing at the 'dump on the hump' comment, that is what we called it when we played against them in school, and we have already passed that name on to our children.

I would definatly rate Monmouth the better of the schools mentioned.

I live relatively local to HMSG and I've always heard really good things about it. I also know that Raglan Primary is a really lovely village school (went to do some teaching experience there a few years ago) but if that's not available, then I think HMSG would be a great alternative!

looking at Monmouth Haberdashers and Wycliffe College (Gloucestershire) - would be really grateful if any of you out there have any info on either. Am running out of time :(.

I left in 2000, my aunt was in a quandary whether to send my cousin there. I told her she had to; that school has made me given me so much. I’ve met the most privileged, wealthy yet lazy people at uni who literally relied on contacts and parents for jobs. Everyone who knows me and my girlfriends says how friendly, thoughtful, ambitious and determined we are. I wasn’t the most academic but I told my aunt, you have to let Helen go to Monmouth, even if she fails at everything she’ll have the best network of friends and therefore never be unhappy.

Helen turned down oxford and graduates from Yale next week.

I’m a head of department for an international company

Not bad for two a levels, that’s me obv not Helen!
