DD started her A2 course the Monday after the last exam - butshe had actually done her last one about a week before that, so if your child finishes early, you might be able to get away. I'm not sure when the timetables are out - they may be on the school website or if you can find out the exam board(s) you may be able to find out on their sites.

Find out from the school when the Year 12s return from study leave.

You can get the exam timetables from the various exam board websites, or from the school.

IME the students usually go back to normal schooling after the end of AS to start on A2 work and prepare UCAS applications.

I teach AS and A2 and as soon as the last AS exam is over, we start A2 work...really crucial as the time pressure on the A2 course is enormous. Also, I am taking my Y12 class on a field trip in that space of time which will generate stacks of work for them.

You really need to find out from the school what the plan is for your DC. I also find that parents think after Y10 exams are over is a good time to go on early holidays but I always do a major piece of coursework then!

Every school/teacher is different so your best bet is to ask.

Definitely ask... At our place, we go back for thsoe 3 weeks but find that so many students take that time off, that I don't teach anything too important, because so many students aren't there. If I did anything major then I would have to reteach it again. So I tend to do a more general background info bit. Incidentally, we have students absent from those classes for a variety of reasons... Fast trackers (students who do the course in a year) don't start until Sept, so they'll be missing, students who go on holiday at that time, Students who think they are going to drop the subject, but then get great results and pick it up again in Sept... most years I do only teach about 1/2 class during those 3 weeks, so I never teach anything major that can't be caught up with private study. But, other people will be different. The only way you'll know is if you ask your child's teachers!

Thanks for your replies

We've decided to go in August as dd doesn't want to miss any school.
