Does anyone know of any non private Catholic grammar schools?

Our 'local' one may be closing and merging with a catholic non grammar to form some sort of catholic college so if that happens I will have to choose between a catholic education or a grammar. I have been googling but have only come up with independant (fee paying) schools.
Thankyou & please excuse bad post - feeding/typing

Where are you based?

Have a look on this list of all the grammar schools in England

There are some catholic grammar schools around, but not v. many. I think there's a co-ed one in Slough, and a girls-only one in Barnet. But not very many -- they tend to be schools that were founded by a religious order, as most of the diocesan schools went comprehensive in the 70s.

It's the one in Slough that may be closing - I am near there but will move so am looking at any in the UK really

Okay, have just done a good schoolsguide search for you. Selective Catholic state schools brings up:

ST Ambrose in Altrincham (boys only)
St Anselm's in Liverpool (boys)
ST Michael's in Barnet North London (girls only, lovely school)
Upton Hall Merseyside (girls only)

All the others are in Northern Ireland.

Looks like you're off to Cheshire or Merseyside then, seamus. Depending on whether you have girls, boys or, like me, an inconvenient combo of both.

I have 2 boys but plan on a few more children so may have a mixture! Thankyou so much for doing that search Are there many in NI, I was thinking about moving there anyway (family) Thanks again!

St Bernards in Slough is merging with the non-grammar Catholic school. I have to imagine that their motives are to maintain the standard of the grammar school as they are by far the best state school for miles and miles.
