So, what's the likelihood of a child getting a place at fabbo school cause his Dad works there?

Just a question

dead cert, surely.

christywhisty · 23/09/2008 11:35

Not necessarily. The best state school locally used to let children of staff have priority but stopped that about 2 years ago.

TheFallenMadonna · 23/09/2008 11:36

State?
No different to anyone else.
But probably a plus on appeal (getting to the school etc)

DrNortherner · 23/09/2008 12:55

Yep it's a state school.

I thought that about the appeal thing.

Are you out of catchment?

I can tell you for certain in Herts that it doesn't count for anything. It did, a couple of years back, but was excluded from the admissions criteria after someone challenged it as being unfair/discriminatory.
That is, if you're talking about a "normal" mixed community secondary. Some of the part-selective ones might have it still. Check the 'Moving On' book that the Year 6s have just been given.

PrimulaVeris · 23/09/2008 17:35

None unless it's very clearly listed as one of the criteria in your LEA

It is now illegal under the Education and Inspections Act 2006 (came into force this year) unless it is offered to the child of a teacher filling a "hard to fill" post.

I am hoping my dd will get a place at the school I teach at, it is out of catchment but we may move before then.
