Leavers hoodie problems

AdamCheshire · Yesterday 23:03

Back in.March we hought our son a year 11 leavers hoodie for £45! The first day he wore it he was told he had to remove the drawstrings or remove the hoodie due to health and safety. He eventually agreed.

For the last 2 weeks he has left his school tie at home and just worn the hoodie over his white shirt due to the heat. Today he was told he can't return to school without his tie because it is an essential part of the uniform.

The tie can't even be seen under a hoodie. He also finishes school for good in less than 3 weeks.

Is the school being ridiculous?

No, the school has rules and in interests of fairness to all the pupils, it doesn't want to make an exception for your ds.

MeridaBrave · Yesterday 23:09

My son was not allowed to wear it for school. If he is in uear 11 why is he in school now? Surely GCSEs are over.

I'm amazed he's wearing a hoodie in this heat. The simple answer is if the school rules require a tie then he wears the tie. It's a daft hill to die on with only a few weeks left

DaysIllRememberAllMyLife · Yesterday 23:13

Why is he still going to school? GCSEs are finished.

SweepSqueaks · Yesterday 23:13

So he’s wearing a hoodie because it’s hot and he can’t wear a tie because it’s hot. I’m confident that the tie and shirt without the hoodie will be cooler.

I'm also amazed he is in school. If he has finished GCSEs (let’s face it, the last ones were more than two weeks ago) then why is he still in school? Is he really going in every day – what are they doing all day?

Non of your post makes sense, OP. A hoodie on this weather? And GCSE students all finished weeks ago.
Very weird.

AdamCheshire · Yesterday 23:25

Yes Monday 21st is his final day

OP posts:
DaysIllRememberAllMyLife · Yesterday 23:26

But why is he still going to school? He's done his exams so what's he doing?

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · Yesterday 23:29

This is just weird. If he’s year 11, GCSEs have finished and he won’t be in school, or he’s in school as he’s not year 11-so no leavers hoody. Plus I am 100% sure that wearing a tie with his shirt is considerably cooler in the heat than wearing a hoody over his shirt.

also-just tell your son to wear the uniform FFS

Either a blazer or hoodie need to be worn

Yes Monday 21st is his final day

Monday 21st of what?

There's Monday 22nd June, or
Monday 20th July

But neither fit with the GCSE timetable!

Smartiepants79 · Yesterday 23:48

If he’s year 11 then he’s not at school anymore surely. This makes no sense…

Teeheehee1579 · Yesterday 23:58

Private schools finish before the 21st if they haven’t already (but no Y11 I know is still going in) and state schools for Y11 have finished. GCSE’s finished weeks ago. Proms and leavers days over. Either this is nonsense or he’s off doing something dodgy whilst telling you he is still in school. Either way it’s rubbish.

clary · Today 00:05

Ah yes, is he telling you he needs to be in school but actually going somewhere else?

Did he sit GCSEs @AdamCheshire? Even if he is staying at the school for A levels (and He also finishes school for good suggests not) I cannot imagine why he needs to go into school.

I ask again, what is he doing in school?

(and yes, who is wearing a hoodie in this weather? Even if it cost £45)

With a tie though. Isn’t that what he’s arguing against?

It works both ways that the tie can’t be seen, it can’t be seen so wear it makes as much sense as it can’t be seen so don’t wear it.

user1469565563 · Today 11:28

Is the OP making this up? Won't answer why he's still in school in July. Makes no sense.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · Today 15:28

Do you mean he’s 11 years old? Rather than Y11?
