Hi,
I’m am looking into potential independent/ grammer schools for my daughter, and just want to prepare for what our chances could be if she passes the tests. We live in Horley and the ideal school would be Reigate Grammer. We also like Nonsuch and Wallington Grammer. What are the chances of her getting a place of she passes all other elements. Has anyone who lives in Horley secured a place in these schools for thier child? I am concious that we are not exactly close, but Horley has no grammer or independent schools near by so these would be our only option.
Thanks

Dunottar is a less academically selective option than RGS or Lingfield. RGS seems to be funnelling off weaker candidates to former Box Hill. Wallington and Nonsuch would be a pain to commute to even if she got an offer.

Which year is your daughter currently in? Are you talking about the 11+? For grammar schools, she will get a place if she scores high enough in the test, but without knowing her ability level, no one can really tell what her chances are. For the non-superselective independent school, I feel that the chance should be much higher as long as you can pay.

And bear in mind only 85 places for Nonsuch and 100 WGS are based purely on highest score, the majority are related to catchment distance which does not extend as far as Horley. So your dd would have to score exceptionally well in both stages to qualify.

having just done this process - its worth being aware the school will pass 800 or so students but only offer to 150 students (and for the girls some of these spots are based on catchment). You have to pass a 2 stage test, competing against 3000 girls. Its a gruelling process!
