How to make a time table, how many hours per day, and anything else to support DC.

What are the best online resources for English, Maths and Science. ? There are so much out there you don’t know where to start.

TIA

My son got on very well with Seneca (premium version) at GCSE especially for science

Mr Everything English for lit and language (YouTube so free)

And past papers for maths then a tutor to help with gaps that show themselves.

He revised for his Y 10 exams, November and March mocks around 1 hour per evening and maybe 3 hrs each day at weekends.

Mr Bruff, Mr Salles, Primrose Kitten, The GCSE maths tutor (all on youtube). The CGP books are very good too.

I guess your DC is doing their GCSE's next year so I wouldn't have them doing too much this summer, it's still early days. They might be given some homework by school but other than that perhaps focus on finding resources that work for them rather than hours of revision. If there's anything they're struggling with them they could do a bit of that over the holidays to improve their confidence.

Revising maths can be quite an individual taste. Some pupils really like revision guides and paper workbooks (the CGP revision guides and workbooks are great), some prefer online self-marking stuff (check what the school has a subscription for, possibly sparx, mathswatch or Dr Frost), some like websites where they can watch videos, do some questions and then mark it themselves (top here is https://mathsgenie.co.uk/gcse/maths/edexcel Or https://corbettmaths.com/ )

But the important thing with maths is to

Identify a weak area
get some support with how to do some questions (e.g. videos, online lessons or a revision guide)
do some questions,
mark those questions
see where you went wrong and try to fix it.
