hi
we are considering JAGS among some others but there is not much recent information on here. our daughter’s prep school closed suddenly last year and we had to move her so we are r we old worried about schools being at risk. I’m assuming JAGs is really secure but does anyone recent knowledge know how many year 7 there are this year? Is it still full and thriving!
is there any other feedback about the school? Our daughter is scoring around 132 in tests and her Headteacher thinks she would get in. It’s also very local to us. However we are now in a school (all girls) that seems to feed directly into another school that is mixed (boys and girls) but we think we would prefer (and she would)!girls school. We are seeing a lot of girls schools closing!

hi there

We're going to JAGS this year. I understand there are 120 in the group. We have an induction on the 29th so we'll get a good idea of how many there are - but they held 2 offer holders day and it looked pretty full at the one I attended. Let me know if you have any questions and happy to respond in private too.

@lg1040 that's interesting about the numbers - did you hear that at the offer holders' day? We're starting in Y7 this year as well, but didn't go to the offer holders' day as DD's older sibling is already at the school so we had already decided when she got her place.

DD1's year is 144 (so 6 forms) so it is interesting that this Y7 will be 5 form entry, which isn't unusual, but could indicate a drop in numbers applying. Equally, it also shows that they are not desparate for bums on seats and are confident in only offering places to those who meet the academic standards.

We're definitely not concerned about the school closing - its part of the Dulwich Foundation for a start which is financially very secure, and DD1 is currently in a transition year - I wouldn't say that unusual levels of girls are leaving for the next stage, and those who are have definite reasons for wanting a different school that aren't necessarily financial.

oh sorry I threw that number out carelessly actually - I don't know if 120 or 140 - I didn't pay massive attentinon to it. I guess we'll find out on the 29th when we get told our forms? Sorry to cause concern...
