Advice on sixth form suits

After some advice re suits for 6th form please. Trying to buy one early before the rush! I really want to get a M+S one but the regular fit starts at 32 waist, which is falling off DS2. The 30 slim fit is fine round the waist but too tight on the legs. Tried the 32L slim fit but it falls off him at the waist.

Surprised as he’s a very standard teen boy shape! Slim and sporty.

Thanks

Following with interest as will also need to buy, but DS is 6’4” so we have a bigger challenge. I’m on another thread about clothes for tall teen boys as well!

Next men’s suits were better for us as our son is very tall as well.

Have you tried Next? They tend to have a wider range of fits online. DH likes their formal stuff

Update - my DH is going to order some from Uniqlo for DS, he said they look good, will report back

We found Suit Direct very good. You walk in, they correctly tell you what size you are. We've bought several suits for a teenage boy and been out within 15-20 minutes.

Next machine washable suits, tall skinny DS got 2 years out of his, washing every week.

altering a waistband is easily done, same with hemming. go for fit across the widest section of the hips and take them to a seamstress.

A lot of suit trousers are constructed to be easy to alter at the waist, by opening up and resewing the centre back seam. If you’ve ever done any dressmaking, or have a friend who has, you’ll know enough to do it even without a sewing machine because it can be hand sewn. It’s a quick job, as long as you have suitable scissors, needle and thread.

M&S sizing isn’t the most consistent, at least in the women’s ranges, so I’d also suggest trying on several pairs in the same size. A different style might well fit your son better, too.
