Blimey, she sounds impressive!

Her ADHD means she’s got to be constantly doing or planning something, it’s exhausting!

EducaatingRita · 13/06/2026 16:08

We received a NINO ages ago but forgot where it is.. Luckily as pp said it's on the child trust fund we all (if born in UK in 2009/2010) got set up automatically when they were born..

Ps is anyone else’s dc suddenly allergic to revision this weekend? So much wailing and dragging of feet, toilet breaks after 5 minutes of revision, despairing cries after completing 20 mins etc. Even though there’s only 2 subjects to revise 😆 She is so over it!

Yes. We are saying ‘just 2 more days and 2 exams’ but literally no enthusiasm to do anything at all. Just started a bit of physics now

HaveYourPetSpeyedOrNeutered · 13/06/2026 16:16

DS seems to be doing a mixture of revising and relaxing here. He did some Maths and Physics earlier, then went out on his bike, and now he’s playing a computer game.

Littletreefrog · 13/06/2026 16:17

Yes a struggle to get any revision going here also. On paper it looked great, park physics and concentrate on the others then do a good two days revision ready for physics on Monday morning. The reality is very different.

makemineadecaf · 13/06/2026 16:26

Dd has been doing a “bit” of physics today but is now going into town with her sister for a smoothie apparently 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not looked at Spanish yet despite having two exams of it this week.

3GoldenLamps · 13/06/2026 16:29

i successfully freaked ds out at 9 am by commenting’ in 50 hours it will all be over’ that triggered some knuckling down!

ShesRunningOutTheDoor · 13/06/2026 16:29

Very light physics revision here. We have a family party tomorrow so hoped for more today. They’re tired. Try and do another past paper tomorrow morning

waitingquietly · 13/06/2026 16:58

@Littletreefrog we have the same issue with Physics .. DS says it was hard enough to learn the first time but a real struggle after weeks not looking at it .

He thinks he isn’t going to pass science now which isn’t helping . I now fear he might be right

walking2020 · 13/06/2026 17:17

My DD who is generally very hard working is also struggling with Physics revision. She has asked me to sit with her for company and to keep her on it. She has gone through some content today but hasn’t touched any past papers. Hopefully she has a bit more enthusiasm tomorrow in anticipation of it all being over by Monday at 10.30!

FlyingPandas · 13/06/2026 17:18

Absolutely no revision going on here today, and we have a family birthday tomorrow so doubt there'll be a huge amount then either!

DS is (allegedly) doing a fitness work out in the garage, but every time I peek in he's sitting on the erg machine seat, on his phone, 'having a quick break' Grin

I think they're all just so over it now. Nearly there.

Islafroggy · 13/06/2026 18:02

Almost there, just physics left but no revision happening and we are also in negotiations over staying up to watch Scotland's first World Cup match....

This thread has been so helpful. We are in Scotland but DS doing the English system for exams. The difference between the two systems is enormous. Most GCSE exam hours per subject are longer than most Advanced Highers in Scotland. I used to wonder what all the fuss was about over GCSEs and now I know!

There is only one exam board here though which i think is a much better system, everyone in Scotland sits exactly the same paper, I can't get my head round the different boards, it all just seems a bit odd to me!

Thank you for all the very useful chat over the last month or so.

Agree about the one exam board, was saying the same yesterday. Makes much more sense. But it keeps people in jobs I guess.

Marking my place. Counting down until Tuesday 🥳

beasmithwentworth · 14/06/2026 08:28

@makemineadecaf same here for Spanish .. and it’s DS’s least favourite subject. He’s ‘distraught’ that almost all of his mates are finished after physics on Monday. Says he’s going to try and be the last one in the exam hall (he gets extra time) so he doesn’t have to see them all whooping and going off to celebrate after physics!

I have of course explained that whilst I understand his disappointment, it really is only 1 more day, and one that will be long forgotten once they are into the swing of festivals and holidays once everyone is done!

Ah it’s two days for us, both Tuesday and Wednesday (edexcel) but lots of DD’s friends do Spanish and/or further maths so a lot won’t be finished after physics!
