Apprenticeship advice

My son is nearly 17 ,he passed all his GCSE’s last year ,he was due to start a level 3 course for his A levels but was told two weeks before course began the college had cancelled that course due to funding , my son then needed to rush into finding another course but the difficulty we faced was by then most courses were full .
He decided to do a level two of the same course which was still running for one year to achieve a diploma and they ensured us the level 3 would be running next year ( now this September) but unfortunately yet again we have been told it isn’t .
Other colleges are too far to travel too .
My son is unclear what he would like to do a full time job but he has a broad idea which is working within the police but as a liaison officer or as a social worker with young adults /children .
I’ve spoken to him about possibly finding an apprenticeship but I’m unsure if this is a possibility with what he would like to do and where to even start . Any idea would be great Thankyou

I believe there are social work apprenticeships in some areas, he would have to ask at your local council. It’s highly beneficial to have done some sort of relevant volunteering or paid employment when applying to these or a social work degree. Our local police force just had a career open day for different jobs in the police. You can check out the jobs page of your local police force. Not sure if he would need to be 18 for the job he is interested in, but if he could chat to someone he could ask this and what they are looking for in applicants.
