Keen to hear from those who’ve already got a son at Beths and your experience generally. My son got a place on offer day yesterday although it wasn’t our first choice and the open day left us feeling a bit cold tbh. DS hasn’t actually seen the school but seems happy because he knows a couple of boys through Scouts who are also going. He’s not a sporty child at all so I think the varied curriculum at Beths would suit him which is a positive.

Any current experience or opinions much appreciated!

Last year they went down to Criteria 8 (Kent pass) right at the end of the summer. I heard that one or 2 boys got a place. Sadly we were too far for my son to get in as he didn't pass the Bexley.
Kent reallocations have gone out which started lots of movement last year. Beth's is generally less popular than Chis and Sids and Bexley so the waiting list does move.

When you say end of summer, is that before start of school in September?

@LostMySocks

This is from Beths school website, looks like they made more offers ....

We have made offers under Criteria 8 as follows:

2024 entry = 33 places, up to a distance of 0.95 miles from the school

2025 entry = 21 places, up to a distance of 0.78 miles from the school

Hi

Just found out we are at position 36 for Beths, any chance of movement ? We live 7.2 miles away from school.

Hi @Bromley12

Do you know where you are on the waiting list? I'm not sure when 2nd offers are due to go out but I do know they're expecting a lot of movement. There always is as some of the people with Beths offers also have private school offers - or those with other grammar school offers do, so then people allocated Beth's as a 2nd or 3rd choice move up their list. Don't lost faith. Boys were transferring into Beth's well into September in previous years.

@RoniaCheetah we are on waiting list number 36. Any chance for my son ?

Hi, I was a beths A level student my name is Ryan. I liked the school, it was fun but don't let your son go to this school unless you are prepared for years of bullying from teachers. I had to deal with almost a full year members of senior leadership constantly denying me a chance to even speak up. At one point a teacher even insulted me and put hands on me.
If you want to know more about beths then please do let me know, i have no problem being brutally honest.
Hope to hear soon! Regards

Bromley12 · 18/07/2026 15:35

We are now at 6th in the waiting list.

Bromley12 · 04/08/2026 11:18

Hi All.

My son is 2nd in the waiting list now, we are confident that he will get it (🤞)

Can anyone please let me know how is the SEN SUPPORT ? My son has improved a lot, but sometimes he does find it hard to makes friends.

Thank you.

Bromley12 · 04/08/2026 16:51

Anyone ? Thanks.

RoniaCheetah · 04/08/2026 19:58

Great that you're up to 2nd @Bromley12 !

I don't have personal experience of the SEND support but someone DS went to primary with, who has autism, goes there and while he's had his struggles, I believe he's settled well.

As a governor what I've seen is impressive. I see how seriously they take the support of scholars with SEND and how well they know them and their needs. Doesn't hurt that it's a major focus of the new Ofsted framework and they're expecting the Ofsted call in September! Obviously new Head teacher coming in sept but she was exec head of Cleeve Park and Cleeve Meadow which is for children with additional needs, so I would expect her to be strong on it.

My son is due to start Y9 at Beths. We don't have experience with SEND, but there are all kinds of boys in his class, and all seem to be doing well and have friends. There is so much to do, various sports and clubs if they want to mix with different groups of boys. I am sure your son will be fine!

Agree with this. My DS is going into year 9 too.
