GCSE Drama Resources for Revision

My son is doing GCSE Drama. There is no set textbook, and the curriculum appears less structured than in his other subjects. I believe the exam board is Eduqas.
Apart from BBC Bitesize, can any drama teacher, parent, or student recommend a coherent study resource, including a suitable book, YouTube channel, or podcast?

Which set text is he doing @Sata? There are seven and most will have resources online (two are frequently studied for Eng lit).

Has he seen the theatre performance? What was the play? Can he do some work on the themes of it to help that aspect? There is a 2024 past paper online which gives an idea of the type of question.

That will help with the written exam which is 40%. The rest is practical and requires analysis and evaluation of the devised piece and an assessed performance. That’s perhaps harder to support with at home but it may be possible to discuss and support with the written elements.

There is also a CGP revision guide which would probs be worth getting.

Thank you for your reply. He has studied An Inspector Calls in both English and Drama, as well as Witness for the Prosecution.

Thank you for your reply. He has studied An Inspector Calls in both English and Drama, as well as Witness for the Prosecution.

So I assume Witness for the Prosecution is the text they are using extracts from for their acting NEA? It's not so easy to work on that but you could talk about his performance and how he interacts with the others, who he thinks of his character etc. Or is Witness the live theatre production seen? The questions for that are obvs very general – talk about the lighting or the set or the interaction between two characters. So that's fairly straightforward to revise for.

AIC - two for one, happy days. Tho ofc the Drama questions will have a different focus from Eng lit - the questions on the set text are very structured rather than being an essay, with a focus on the performance. Have a look at the sample assessment materials so see. But I imagine the Eng lit revision guide for AIC would be useful.

This study guide is available as well https://www.waterstones.com/book/wjec-eduqas-gcse-drama-study-and-revision-guide/rachel-knightley/9781913963095

I actually think it is pretty structured now (used to be no exam at all for some boards) but obvs a lot of the marks are for his devised performance which he should be working on in school. But the written exam is fairly accessible IMHO. Not having a textbook is not unusual but you have a set text. HTH

The main thing I learned about GCSE Drama is that you write about anything except the text. (Whereas in Eng Lit you write about the text).
