Kent grammar school

Hello
I needed a suggestion. My DD has passed her Kent 11 plus exams with a score of 376
We have moved into the catchment to make sure that she can secure TOGs while I know how selective it is.
My concern here is that my daughter does not want to leave her existing primary for the last six months.
Could anyone in a situation tell me how important is it to change the current primary school for last 6 months?
What are my options and how should I cope with this?
Currently we are driving her but does the in catchment application expect me to change primary school ?
Can anyone help how they managed this part of change?
Would the application be affected if the current primary school is not changed?
I really don't want to steal and disturb the final six months of her primary school. She should have her leavers prom, spend final days with her old school friends and have a closure to start fresh at secondary school with pride
Please help with any suggestions. Any Help shall be very much appreciated.

Not an expert but I think as long as you have actually moved, the primary school location doesn’t matter. Have known a few parents move for various reasons whilst child is in year 6 and they have done whatever they can to avoid their kids missing out. Long commutes, help from friends etc. One of these was a family where the eldest DD stayed in her east London primary school and her younger siblings switched to the new area. The elder DD went to grammar school in Bexley.

How far away is the current primary school?

Have you made any enquiries about places at primary schools local to your new address? None available within at least 3 miles - would probably seem reasonable to stay put. Places available at desirable school(s) ten minutes walk away...?

Have you fulfilled all the required conditions for KCC ,re proof that you have moved irrevocably to your new address? (And registered with local GP, dentist etc?).

You're probably okay not moving your DD to a local primary (although one hopes there isn't a local child desperately waiting for an in-year place at her current school, if the year group is full), but don't be too surprised if the secondary school is a little inquisitive.

Hello
Thank you for your replies, we have made all the desired changes , council tax, utility bills, gp . I have applied for the local school places too; now awaiting replies.
Would we have to move immediately, before I make an in catchment application before 8th December or would January start work .
I feel just abruptly uprooting her would make her life miserable.
She has her birthday in December and wanted to celebrate it at school with her friends, also the Christmas at her school. Finishing this term; I think she would be ok to join from January.
I am worried whether her application might be affected if I put her current school as previous for now and change to new in January

What does the admission criteria for TOGS say? I don’t think it matters which primary school she’s at, but I’ve not double checked the policy. Why not ring KCC or TOGS admissions. As long as you’ve properly moved out of the old address, got a local GP etc I don’t think it will be an issue. I’d leave my child to finish yr 6 where she is if she’s happy there. There will be other kids joining in yr 7 who don’t know anyone else too.
