Changing schools because of toxic kids

Hi !! Been thinking about this a lot. My eldest and only, second baby due soon. Had a difficult time at school. He’s in year 8. The school goes to A Lvsl. It’s good academics. Better than others. But the a lot of toxic behaviour. Comes out in sport. His sport is cricket. Overly competitive. My son is very good. But the boys in his team purposely run him out. In other sports they don’t pass to him. Not everyone. Just about two who really hate him. I feel sad for him. Feel like this isn’t how it should be. He hates playing with them. Just puts up with it. He’s much better than them. They hate him for it. The boys in the year. They have so many 1 to 1. Parents all rich and don’t care. Feels like pressure cooker and horrible.

What should I do? Should we change him for year 9? One opportunity to go for it. Agonising !! He is open to the idea. But other school not so good academically. Still ok through but a few steps below.

Thx :) :)

What does he want to do? At this age I'd support his decision on education after all he's the one who has to live with it.

If he's being badly bullied and has no friends I'd move him. If it's just a few mean kids and he's otherwise settled with friends and reasonably enjoying school then I wouldn't even consider the disruption of moving him. There are mean children at every school (and mean adults in every workplace!)

If you’re otherwise happy with the school and it’s just cricket, why not just take him out of cricket and get him into a proper local club, where he will be able to properly train and play at county level/beyond. School sports are a dead end really so not worth setting much store by. Also have you actually given the teachers a chance to sort it out by telling them in clear words what is happening?

Is this a state school or a private school he is at?
is it a single sex school or coed?

Thanks!! Boys and girls school. Already in cricket club. Moss you are very right. He is in that gray area where on some days its terrible. Other days its just a few mean kids. Mostly in Spring when cricket is on. He asked himself to see the other school. So we will go look. Its a risk. Other school not so acadmic. Cricket is much better though. We might find more unkind boys there too. I think this school is an exception for toxic lvels. Has anyone found similar amongst school sport team? I told the cricket coach but not much he can do. Just keep in eye on then.
