Has anyone’s DC used this successfully? DD in Y11 is really keen to get it, but it’s not cheap and I’m not convinced that it would be effective.

She has checked that the exam boards for her subjects are covered, and several of her friends like it.

Any positives and/or negatives would be gratefully received!

Also, I have read through the Trustpilot reviews, which are a mixed bag, to be honest, so not overly helpful!

I've just tried the demo ratio question for maths and I wasn't impressed. The explanations were all given in the chat box in wordy sentences which needed a lot of reading and understanding to follow. I could have explained the same question far more easily by putting the numbers into a table and then annotating the required scaling with arrows and multipliers linking the appropriate numbers. It didn't pick up on a mistake I deliberately put in the answer (it said 'good!' When I expressed a ratio with a comma instead of a colon). It also fluffed some of the explanation.

In short, don't get it for maths.

Thanks, @noblegiraffe - that’s really helpful!
She has (at her own request) a tutor for maths, so hopefully she will rely on the human resource in that subject!

Would love to hear others’ thoughts…

Just found Save My Exams which looks like it might be better with better Trustpilot reviews..

Has anyone used this?

So, you trust the reviews from sites like Trustpilot now? Keep in mind that major review sites are often accused of unauthentic reviews, exaggerated reviews or reviews written by people who were incentivized to write reviews or reviews written by people were never actual customers.

Not too long ago, we were all talking about how children should be spending less time in front of screens. How does this help that concern, when it essentially gives them yet another reason to sit and stare at a screen for who knows how long?

Thank you for your reply, @OnePoliteKoala, but it’s not really relevant to my question.

I’m asking on here in addition to asking people IRL, reading online reviews and paying for a real life tutor for her main area in which DD lacks confidence.

Online revision might not be the best, but we can’t afford tutoring for more than one subject and so I’m hoping it’s better than unstructured, hope-for-the-best-but-not-really-sure-what-I’m-doing that teenagers might do otherwise.

We've tried the demo for Medly with our daughter in year 11 and we've also tried save my exams. My daughter prefers Medly. We also have a maths tutor. In our opinion, I think save my exams is better for students, who are probably already at a higher level and really need the past papers and mark schemes. My daughter lacks the confidence and also doesn't seem to be able to organise revision herself particularly well. She works visually, and she likes the immediate feedback and having the topics already set out and ready for her to do. That being said, she is not aiming for 8's or 9's and will hopefully sit comfortably in the 5,6,7's. I think save my exams is better for the students who already sit at 7's and working towards the highest grade and do not need so much direction.

My daughter liked the demo so I signed her up. She doesn’t like it for maths and has a one to one tutor for this. However very good for sciences so far. I am not a teacher though I know the science curriculum well and it seems on point. Price wise I compared it to some online group tution and this is cheaper than that. Think I pay £25 ish a month and she’s definitely using it enough to get moneys worth.

Ive used savemyexams for about 6 months maybe longer and just touched upon medly in my opinion for sciences, business, history word based subjects medley is allot better as it uses exam practice questions and marks with the mark scheme it is allot better than save my exams however I find for maths its very difficult to actually do on the app so like someones said don't use it for maths but any essay based subjects science medleys superior as it even marks for you use save my exams for maths but in general savemyexams is literally just a text book with exam questions for each topic and that's about it really if you want something to actually help with maths id use maths gpt and ask it to help with a question. sorry for the long paragraph but that's my overall opinion.
