Haileybury for sixth form

Thinking of sending my daughter there for sixth form boarding. Want to hear back from anybody whose kids went through sixth form. Not super keen on Saturday school - please let me know your thoughts. Thank you so much.
My daughter is clever enough but not particularly studious nor does she like sports but she's good fun and finds it easy to make friends.

2DC at Haileybury- phenomenal facilities, high quality teaching, good behaviour. Everything you can think of is on offer. Cannot recommend it enough but fees very high and would only send a child there who would throw themselves into everything so sport, or music or drama or other clubs, CCF, volunteering. If you’re only after academics other schools may suit her better. It’s becoming more academically selective and competition for sixth form is high. If you have specific questions feel free to DM me. Also are you keen on it for IB? I’ve named changed for this as I’m always worried about being identifiable on mumsnet.

Forgot to say we also aren’t keen on Saturday school but comparable schools in Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire all have at least sport if not lessons and sport on Saturdays.

Thank you so much for your reply. I haven't found a single parent who doesn't love the school. Do you have girls or boys there? My daughter is just a very typical teen and doesn't do sports and not good at throwing herself into things.
I always regret that ny eldest chose Bryanston over Haileybury! Thanks again for replying.

I have 1 boy and 1 girl - they’re not yet in sixth form but one would be in your child’s year. If your child isn’t into sport I wouldn’t go there. It’s very much sport for all and even my less sporty child loves the sport and gets stuck in despite it requiring a lot of effort. To do well there you need to be a child willing to get involved in everything.

Thanks for your honest feedback. There must be some kids who don't like sport? Usually at sixth form schools give the kids more choice, so if they're the sort of kids who would never be picked to be on a team, they just have sessions in the gym? She'd probably get into the drama - and if getting involved is the ethos, I think she would do it as she's gregarious.

I can’t find anything about sports in sixth form specifically. I am able to see there are a large number of sports teams for the sixth form so as far as I can tell the school’s ethos of sports for all regardless of ability and experience applies to sixth form too. Would be worth asking Admissions Team.

I'm pretty sure that by the 6th form, people can choose to do aerobics and badminton and stuff rather than team sport, if that's not their thing.

Good morning - we got a place at Year 11 for the pre IB course at Haileybury and very excited about it. Wanted to ask current parents about IB, how academic the school is and how boarding works. Thank you

Hi there, wondering if the sports is really pushed from year 9 onwards and what proportion of their timetable is on sports including swimming etc? I have a DC who is very academic, enjoys drama, music, art… but doesn’t really like sports… other than cricket :-)

Sport is a huge part of school life. From year 7 to year 11 (I’m not sure how it works in sixth form) it’s sport two afternoons a week and Saturday. Look at the Haileybury sports instagrams to see.
