Just wondering if it's worth entering my DD for the language aptitude test at this school. Does anyone know when it's likely to take place and when registration opens? We haven't done any prep specific to this (though she's been preparing for the 11+) and she doesn't speak any languages currently. Is it a waste of time?

Hi there, my DD goes to GCH and took the test several years ago. She got a place, but not via the language test. From what I recall, it’s not the sort of test you can prepare for, and it doesn’t matter that your DD doesn’t speak any other languages currently. It’s more about how the student interprets what is on the test sheet, and finding a common pattern in the words (I didn’t quite understand it, but from I recall my DD saying, it’s like a sort of made up language)

There are a lot of applicants, for a very small number of places, but it’s still worth a go, as you just never know! Good luck!

Thanks 😊. Do people travel from reasonably far? We aren't v local though it's one tube and I work near it

Yes, many of the girls travel a long way, they’re dotted all over London, however I was surprised that there are girls who live very locally too, like 5-10 min walk from the school.
We live a 15-30 min overground train ride away.
Whilst daunting at first, the commute has made my DD grow in confidence, and she finds it very easy to navigate journeys all over London.

Feel free to PM me any questions you have about the school.
