Hi can anyone recommend a Bromley (or a stretch Croydon or maybe Lewisham) mainstream secondary which is good for SEN? Or conversely anywhere to definitely avoid? Any recent experience would be great.

Avoid Bishop Justice because they are awful and have had very bad results.
Bullers Girls and Bullers Boys are excellent. The Park Langley schools are good. Hayes is excellent. Ravens Wood is a fantastic boys school. I know children who have done incredibly well at Ravensbourne.

Those are the ones I’m familiar with. There are also the grammars like Chislehurst and Sidcup.
I’m most familiar with the Bullers schools my kids attended and did really well in.

Deptford Green I've heard good things about as well, and Thomas Tallis has an ASD hub, depending on what you need. It might depend on where you are and how you plan to manage the journey (do you have an EHCP? Boy or girl?) Surprisingly Harris Beckenham is not bad at all with SEN.

I've also heard good things about the Langley Schools. We're trying somewhere a bit closer to home first (awkward journey) but would consider moving there if needed.

Harris Beckenham and Langley boys are really good. My eldest went to Langley and no problem at all and youngest went to Ravens Wood it was terrible….He was on the hyperactive side though. So much trouble at Ravens wood with the teachers. He ended up leaving in the middle of his GCSE because he was bullied so much by the school. SEN department was completely out of sight. The Deputy head Mr S is the one to watch, Really sly and the head she la very pleasant and says all the right things and takes pictures with all SEN and ethnic children but If you dare to complain she puts the parent in inclusion too.

Interesting. I've heard not so good re Ravenswood elsewhere but they seem to be well thought of locally when you ask around.

Like I said they re very pleasant on the surface until you send your child to their school or have to make a complaint and that’s when hell breaks loose! Very unprofessional and unpleasant! My son wasn't their usual pupil sporty or particularly academic. Sadly he was treated badly that I had to pull him out in the end. He s doing great now at another school.
