Schools on Caterham / Coulsdon / Warlingham

We are considering a move around Caterham / Warlingham / Coulsdon way. We need to take senior schools into account in the move but I know next to nothing about the schools in that area.

Would welcome any views on schools to consider and not consider. And any tips on a general move to the area - nice bits or places to avoid.

thanks

Are you looking at state or private?

State, we’re currently divided between staying where we are and paying private or moving and going state. But we’re trying to find an area with good non grammar schools, that’s ok for both our commutes and to get back to our current area to care for elderly family. Coulsdon / Caterham / Warlingham fits the bill geographically but I don’t know the areas or schools. Thanks

Riddlesdown, Warlingham & De Stafford are the closest high schools to those areas. I think there's an Oasis too but not heard great things about that. Not sure if it's primary or secondary.
Riddlesdown is really good but can't really comment on the others, good luck 😊

Coulsdon has two senior schools, Oasis and Woodcote. They are very different in feel from each other and both highly oversubscribed so you would need to take a look at both. Oasis in particular tends to have a quite short ‘furthest distance’ allocation. I think Woodcote is probably better for sports whereas Oasis give each child an iPad for the duration. Woodcote is also more spread out whereas Oasis is more compact. Neither is especially academic.

Thank you - do you know if either have a particularly good or bad rep? Particularly for behaviour and dyslexia support

I believe Oasis Coulsdon enjoys a good reputation. I say this because in its previous incarnation as Coulsdon High School it was not so well thought of.

FWIW, I really liked the Head at Oasis, whereas there has been quite a change in management/headship at Woodcote.

Sorry I can’t answer your specific questions though.

Both Warlingham and Riddlesdown have good reputation. Riddlesdown is very strong on music, art and sports. Sports I believe is very competitive to get into. It's been OK for my yr9 dyslexic; she has a laptop, extra time (but can be over 2 lessons) can be hit and miss if she gets readers in her exams though.

My friends d went to woodcote and got straight A’s and a*’s

i went to coulsdon college when it was purley, was the best in the borough (with slim pickings admittedly)
