Hi. Looking to relocate North for family reasons ( I can define the area as roughly the area between Sheffield, York, Liverpool and Manchester) with two kids currently 6 & 8. 8yo is autistic and struggles with clothing changes, insists on shorts all year round and is hugely selective about WHICH shorts.
i think he’ll struggle with a strict uniform (eg blazer, tie etc) by the time he’s in secondary school so looking for secondary school recommendations where there is a relaxed uniform (could be school logos etc that’s not an issue but shorts or jogging bottoms and t-shirt / polo much preferred to grey trousers, tie, blazer).

That should be reasonable accommodation for his SEN - I know several autistic kids who don’t wear the regular uniform because of sensory needs. In a well run school with a good understanding of SEN and good support you’d just explain the issue and agree a version of the uniform he can manage. So I’d prioritise finding that good school.

My son goes to a school in Sheffield and secondary uniform is blazer tie trousers etc however they do make reasonable adjustments for kids who need it (he’s one of them!)

Nether Green Primary in Sheffield have (or at least had) a relaxed uniform... High Storrs Secondary school up the road from there has a dress code rather than uniform.

A little bit further south you have Antony Gell in Wirksworth, Derbyshire, which also has a dress code rather than uniform.
