looked back at a few old threads about this. Do secondary kids really not wear coats? What about when it’s below zero? If anyone has a girl who does/has worn a winter coat, can you recommend a good one that is the right side of stylish and practical? And how about for the autumn and spring- do they wear light waterproofs or is that uncool?

One of mine will wear a coat if it's the Arctic outside. The other - hat, scarf, gloves to walk down the chiller aisle at Tesco.

Thanks so much for the advice. Very useful. I was all set to leave it and see what others had, then found this coat in new look for £12 https://www.newlook.com/uk/girls/girls-clothing/girls-jackets-and-coats/girls-navy-hooded-puffer-coat/p/900405141 and I figured- buying that will give me peace of mind that she actually has a coat in case of an unusually cold early autumn, but not end of world if it doesn’t get used! 👍

My girls chose to freeze through year 7, let’s see what year 8 brings. Their coats remained untouched in the wardrobe all of last winter.

We live near a girls' grammar (South East) and they all wear coats in winter. Everything from puffer, to lovely smart wool coats. Opaque tights too. Having lived in the north east the no coat thing seems regional.
