@chaosiscominggrabchocolate I have just sent you a pm

muminherts · 04/11/2025 21:48

@chaosiscominggrabchocolate if you let us all know which of these schools you are interested in then we can help you.

I have friends who have had or have dc at some of these and also have dc there myself.

muminherts · 04/11/2025 21:57

@Interestedmum1 did you make a decision?

ltscoldonthesidelines · 04/11/2025 21:58

Not sure where you live but have you considered Kingshott in Hitchin. It’s expanding to GCSE, currently the oldest year group is Year 10. The current year 7’s have less than 50 in the year split into 3 classes. Their SEN support is second to none. Worth having a look.

muminherts · 04/11/2025 22:39

We didn’t even look at Kingshott for ours because we had heard they were not good for SEN. Do you have SEN dc there yourself@ltscoldonthesidelines? I thought it was always more of a school for children who can cope pretty well academically because isn’t it fairly selective?

ltscoldonthesidelines · 05/11/2025 16:58

Isn’t it funny how schools get a reputation for being good or bad at SEN. My child has ADHD and the school supported him brilliantly, I can hand on heart say they have achieved their potential.

muminherts · 05/11/2025 17:12

That’s so interesting @ltscoldonthesidelines! I’m really glad to hear your dc has had such a good experience. Was that back when the school was a prep school only? I know someone who took their SEN child out so I’ve heard a very different view unfortunately.

Queens wood was hopeless with our GD who is on the spectrum (she is now at university and doing well). they said they’d learnt a lot from her and would do better next time. So I’d say check with them quite specifically.

OhDear111 · 07/11/2025 14:59

@Interestedmum1 Queenswood ok for mild dyslexia but I’d be very careful of them. They aren’t known for sen.
