NBH Canonbury/ Highbury Fields/ Stoke Newington School (SNS)

Would love to hear up to date experiences of any/ all of these schools which feel like they are the only three realistic options for us.
DD is fairly shy, bright, dyslexic, very creative and loves art.
We want to stay local and would prefer a good state school. I have heard mixed reports of both SNS and HF - haven't yet visited myself and would love to hear from those who have DC there.
Considering Northbridge house Canonbury as it's local, inclusive/ non selective and has what seems to be good dyslexia support - however the fees would be painful and it does seem VERY small!
Would love to hear any experiences!

I don't know HG, but several friends have sent their kids to SNS and (bar one) they've all done well. There are issues but SNS has a real mix of kids so he'll find others like him. Why not let him try it. You can always move him to the private school if it isn't a good fit but with a bit of luck he'll find his crowd quickly and settle well. I honestly do know a lot who have. One friend's son sounds very similar to yours and he's flying there. Tbh, what pp says about drugs could be said of any private school.

Thanks for the replies!
Just to be clear I have a DD not a son (Highbury Fields is a girls school, I think it's often called Highbury Girls maybe hence the confusion?)
So I'm looking at a choice between Highbury Fields school, Stokie school (SNS) and Northbridge House.
I also have friends who have got on well at Stokie but they tend to have very lovely, smart self-motivated kids who I think would have got on well anywhere.. my DD is (also lovely!) but dyslexic and struggles at school. I worry that she might get a bit lost at SNS.
I have the opposite concern at Northbridge House which seems very small and a bit cramped and obviously being private it's necessarily going to be a 'bubble'.
Highbury Fields I haven't seen yet or know anyone who goes (it sounds nice on paper but a girls school with a male head seems weird to me?!)
We're state school people really by instinct, so I'm hoping either HF or SNS will be a fit for her, but I am worried about the level of SEND support on offer at secondary in the state system for a quiet dyslexic kid.

Yes, you said DD in your OP. Apologies! I don't know anything about HF but if you do a search I think I remember seeing a thread where it was mentioned not long ago. I'd just go to the open days and try to find out more info as you go. I still think state's worth a try though. I've got a dyslexic son and he did really well in a big comp. Sometimes state schools are better with dyslexia than private schools. Obviously each school's different though. Good luck!

My DD goes to highbury fields. The school is good academically, but very strict, and does have issues with discrimination. I don't feel comfortable saying more in an open forum but feel free to message me. The student behaviour is otherwise good in and off site (they don't have issues with fighting/drug use, like you have in other local schools). I don't feel like they are good for send.

I have colleagues and neighbours with children at Stoke Newington school, and they report issues commensurate with a school in an urban area of London with mixed intake, including bad behaviour, fights, drug use, knife carrying. They do seem generally positive about the school though: it just depends if your child would be comfortable in an environment with the above.

I visited NBH Canonbury and was very impressed, and they are reportedly good with send. I have a friend with a DD there and they love the school.

@Newbie1011 are you in catchment for Clapton girls? That's meant to be good, friends are very happy with it. I think you may be on the other side of Stokey though if you're considering Highbury.

@Newbie1011 Hi, I know this is an old post, but have ND DD and am local, so was wondering what you decided in the end and are you happy with your decision.
