Anyone out there who can help advise on revision areas for Jane Eyre?

Is this for A level or GCSE? Is there no helpful information online (such as mark schemes)?

If you go on the WJEC website they’ll have past exam papers, and (I think) some examples of student answers, and the grades they received. There’ll also be an overview of the A-Level marking criteria (I think Jane Eyre is A-Level?) which will give you an idea of the areas to focus on.

Yes a quick search suggested A level too - tho it is on the AQA GCSE spec. But agree, look at past papers and mark schemes. Has there been advice from school?

Sorry - what a dimwit.
it’s A Level.

Teachers at her sixth form haven’t been very forthcoming. For Jane Eyre, that particular teacher has mostly breezed in and out within 10-15 mins and told them to read the next few chapters.

The class have been taking bets on how long she’s with them for.

I’ll trawl through the website today but some human contact (wise MN’ers) would be most appreciated too.

How about buying the study notes for Jane Eyre?

clary · 18/04/2025 11:48

Is she in year 12 and being very organised (yay)?

Or is she year 13 and has exams in the next month? If the latter, she needs to focus on key themes of the text and the style of questions and what is needed to get a good mark.

So looking at specimen papers, she has an extract to analyse – so she needs to check out what kinds of points the examiner is looking for (there is lots of detail in the AOs for the specimen paper on line) – then she has to widen out on a specified theme – so she needs to research what themes these might be and ensure she has the necessary knowledge there. Again, look at the AOs for helpful support.

This is a good shout. Have a look at the York Notes, or the Cambridge Guides to the Brontës. Themes are big, as a PP said - also, use of language, and how that use of language helps understanding of the text.
