Deferring GCSEs – Looking for Home schooling Options

Hi All,
My DD is deferring her GCSEs due to an unfortunate situation.
I would like to know if any parents have home schooled their child for the final year of GCSEs. What are the best online schools you have come across?
Also, if you have done Art privately, how did you manage it? My daughter has her portfolio from the past year.
Thank you in advance for any advice you can share!

KingsInterhigh is brilliant Study Online GCSE | GCSE Distance Learning Courses | King's InterHigh. They do Art, so it's worth getting in touch to see if she is allowed to use her existing portfolio.

When you say your daughter is deferring her exams, do you mean that her current school has agreed for her to sit them there? That would be ideal if possible, especially for practical subjects such as art. If she has left the school, then you'll need to identify somewhere she can sit the exams.

You may get more answers if you post on the Home Ed board. Here is the go-to beginners' guide to doing exams. The interface is clunky but the content is sound: https://he-exams.fandom.com/wiki/Art

If your daughter enjoys group learning, another option to consider could be joining a local tutor-led study group. Ask other local home educators which subjects are available in your area. These are typically done intensively over one academic year.

Or there may be a crammer near you which offers some or all of the subjects you want. Be sure to ask whether they help to arrange the exams themselves, as that is often the stumbling block.

We used The Art and Design Room for GCSE art, Southwest Science School for sciences, Absolute Maths, Humanatees for geography (they do history and other subjects), Learntec for computer science. For English we used Homemade Education but also an online 1 to 1 tutor for a bit extra. It worked well for us using individual providers and they offered online lessons and marked work/mocks. Art was the most expensive as it involved some in person sessions. We used Tutors and Exams as an exam centre.

Dear All,
Thanks a ton for all your help! I'm going through a lot right now, but I really appreciate all the advice. I’ll definitely check everything out!
