Occasional places central London

Hi everyone, we’re having to move from outside London to central. DD is currently at a school nearby and we could switch her to weekly boarding which she isn’t too keen on. I’ve been looking at schools somewhat close to the new area but most of them have a deadline for occasional places. We would be looking for a Y8 or 9 places (co ed or girls) Does anyone know any schools that often come up with occasional places? FHSS seemed promising but admissions have closed. Thank you x

If it's not too far away, try St Augustines' Priory (in Ealing). I know several girls who have gotten in year places with them, and their pastoral care is great, as well as their results. They take girls of all faiths or none.

Queenswood would likely have places but only really works if you are Kings Cross type area. Train to Potters Bar and there’s a minibus service to take them to school. Alternatively they have a door to door transport service and offer flexi boarding so she’s not having to weekly board.

Worth considering if you can’t find a place more centrally.

Try Francis Holland RP and Queen's Gate. There is movement at privates, especially for Year 9.

Queen’s gate, Queens College, Francis Holland RP, Northbridge House Hampstead, St James Girls School all may have places.

very small schools that are not super academic that probably will have places are Northbridge House Cannonbury, Kensington Park School and More house in Knightsbridge.

Clapham Park School could be worth a look depending on where in central london

I don't have my ear to the ground on specific schools but there is movement around Y9 in particular, so you'll be able to find something even if your DD needs to do some flexiboarding while you look.

But make sure you're calling/emailing and definitely not just going by websites. Give the quick summary ["Our family will be relocating to London in [month] and we're looking for an occasional place for our DD who is currently a Y7 day student at [current school]"] and see what they say.
