Brighton College, Hurst or Ardingly?

Does anyone have any advice on choosing a school for my DS? He has offers for Brighton College, Hurst and Ardingly to join in Year 9. He loves sports, maths, music and is generally quite good at joining in with things.

I’d love to hear from anyone with kids at any of these schools currently. We need to make a decision fairly soon and I’m not sure what we should do. I really liked Brighton on the tours etc so leaning towards it, but would be keen to hear from locals (as we don’t yet live nearby). He’d be a day student, if that makes a difference.

Thank you!

Does he like rugby? My son chose Ardingly (also had offers from Brighton and Hurst) because - while he’s v sporty - rugby is his least favourite sport and it’s the main sport at both Brighton and Hurst. He didn’t want to be in the C team for rugby when he could play in the A team for football (which is the main sport at Ardingly, along with cricket and hockey - although my son now loving basketball too at Ardingly.) Very happy with the decision as I like the smaller year groups at Ardingly (max 140 in a year v. 200/250 kids in the year at Brighton and Hurst) and small Tutor groups too (max 10 in his tutor group). I can’t fault the teaching/academics at Ardingly either. And I think the Music is exceptional at Ardingly - although sadly my son isnt into music much, alas. But they’re all good schools so it’s a great position to be in! Good luck with your choice!
