Is St Pauls suitable for a quiet boy?

My son has a place at St Paul's for Year 9 in 2026. He is more of an introvert and on the quiet side, whilst also not being very sporty. However, he is very academic and is excelling at his current school academically. As a child who is not into football, rugby and other sports, will he cope in the St Pauls environment and more importantly, will he thrive? Will he become more confident or will he become more quiet in an environment where everyone around him is very bold? One of the key reasons we would invest in a St Pauls education, is so that our son will hopefully become more confident, more outgoing and more socialiable and utilise all of the clubs and societies available etc. Does anyone have a son who joined St Pauls with a similar personality and found that the school helped him to build confidence, develop social skills further and thrive in the St Pauls environment? I would appreciate any input anyone may have!

Unless you specify what town you are talking about I doubt anyone can help you. There are likely hundreds of schools called 'St Pauls' in the country.

Thank you @Mielikki I'm referring to St Paul's School in Barnes.

The St Paul's ethos and environment is one that fosters excellence across all types of pupil and everyone generally has someone that they can bond closely with that has similar interests.

There is a strong sense of unity and mutual respect between rugby boys vs more nerdy types etc.

In my opinion the St Paul's education is second to none for a boy in the UK and the academic excellence is secondary. The holistic ethos and the facilitation of student driven excellence in all areas is what make it superior to Westminster and any other potential rival.

Your son would just need to be someone who is confident in himself and give things a go when necessary. As you go through the school there are plenty more niche sporting opportunities and areas for customisation in one's timetable so boys can spend time focusing on that which they enjoy.

@YourMerryLemonLeader- have you actually got a child at the school? Your other thread on tutoring suggests you don’t.

I am happy to be told I'm wrong but this sounds as if a St Paul's School prospectus has been fed through ChatGPT (or some other AI tool).

Where are the tells for AI? Feel free to run it through a detector yourself.

There are more entry points than just 11+. Feel free to ask a specific question if you have one, otherwise good luck.

@YourMerryLemonLeader would you please answer the question?

How did you prepare for the St. Paul's Interview?

How did you prepare for the St. Paul's Interview?

For my first 2 who did the 7+, we prepared them ourselves with the help of their prep school.

For my DCs doing the 11+, we started using intrvue.ai

It was sent in one of the St Pauls chats as its made by some old boys/staff. Much more affordable and really good quality, especially as you can see the interview transcript so makes it easy for us to review and implement the feedback with our DCs.

In the groupchat they mentioned they are still developing and looking for feedback so I believe features are still rolling out and improvements being made, so I think it is still early stages but the £9 full interview with feedback was great so far.

As mentioned above, feel free to run it through a detector or let me know of any tells. If there are specific questions I am happy to answer but these remarks are of limited value.

My younger sun thrived because he is sporty, sociable, outgoing - elder one not so much /but he is quite introverted and not sure he would have been happier elsewhere.
Absolutely no regrets about sending them there, tho’ that was about 10 years ago, so may have changed under the new head.
