My daughter is in year 6 phase return
high functioning autistic with no behavioural issues but requires a small setting, she struggled with confidence and large crowds but is pretty independent
butlington originally said no due to diagnosis being to complex for them but have since after receiving school report from La responded with a head teacher meet.

abingdon have said yes on paperwork but want a trial in march.

all state schools mainstream and Sen have refused her

Burlington 100 percent my son is very happy there. The kids are pretty high functioning. Abingdon will likely be too much for her.

Oldmummy69 · 09/03/2025 18:50

When I say too much the kids have much more demanding needs. Burlington is basically more like your average school. Fantastic teachers and kids make great friendships. Don’t bother with Abingdon if you have been offered Burlington.

@Oldmummy69 I'd care to disagree I have 2 boys at Abingdon one in year 7 other in year 11 and the school is fantastic with Sen extra support sessions. DS has many friends with ADHD, autism etc and there all cared by Abingdon Learning support department fantasically. They schedule weekly or fortnightly sessions for your son or daughter to help support them their very kind and warm individuals who care and look after each children carefully. In addition theres a very nice atmosphere as the school has their own counselling sessions which run weekly open to any pupil stress anxiety literally anything they want to talk about. To even add the school has an amazing academic reputation I'm sure your daughter would be inspired by the range of opportunities offered by the school. Every boy I've met at the School are all open and extremely kind and welcoming. I'd also like to add Abingdon has stellar facilities definitely worth a second look in my opinion. Happy to answer any further questions 😊

No no no. They are
talking about Abingdon House, the specialist SEN school. Not Abingdon School. Hopefully the school
nurse will look after parents too because you seem to be out of your bed again…

@Bringmefood12 how were you able to get them to reconsider? We've been rejected for the same reason 😥

Hey, they called her in after her school wrote a covering letter about her behaviour and work level. They then allowed her to meet the head teacher before deciding if she could do a trial. She then had a 2 day trial and was offered a place the same day. Messsge me if you want as I guessing your local !

What did you mean by tuition ? Do you mean initial fees or extra tuition.
most people’s fees are la funded as it’s around 50 k a year. Once fees are agreed to be paid for by the la
everything is included
intervention in maths and English
speech n language
occupation therapy
is included.

It’s a long process and not easy but yes I would say at least 90 percent are La funded.

@Bringmefood12 , We are considering Burlington for our son. My husband met them last year, and I am visiting them soon. My concern is that we might be rejected, too. My son is very high-functioning and has no social issues at all. Most of his issues come from accessing learning- highly dyslexic and having issues with working memory and attention, meaning he really needs small, tailored environments to access learning. I know the school is quite small and just worried we might be rejected, as it is our main option really, so good to hear you were reconsidering.
Also, I see this post is from last year. Have you got any feedback already from your experience? Are you happy?

Many thanks,

Marta

Hi
i really can’t see why your son would be rejected. He sounds like exactly who they want. They accepted my DD with ASD and complex medical needs. I will message you x
