Independent schools offering sports choices

Hi, sorry I am a bit new to this but would really appreciate some help / advice please (thank you!). We really liked the concept of sports choices available at Wellington College - children can pick from a huge variety of sports, and they never have to play rugby for example. This would really suit our son (who is currently in Year 5) who loves sport but, with the exception of cricket, doesn’t like the “traditional” school sports.
Obviously, Wellington College is very competitive and tricky to get into, so I was just wondering if anybody had come across any other schools where children can opt in / out of specific sports (even if the range of choices isn’t as vast as Wellington). We’ve looked at (and liked) Sevenoaks and Teddies which offer a degree of sports choice, but just wondering if we are missing any obvious ones!
Thank you so much!

Double check the option is no rugby, since that is their core winter sport does it mean rugby plus another sport? Also, in the past there was house sport which included rugby so level of participation for new kids to try all sport. There seems to be new rules on rugby and level of contact for younger kids. Get in touch with schools and ask for explanations to clarify sport structure.

I have a YP at Wellington. Sport isn’t really as advertised. There are standard core sports and then ones to choose from. If you wanted to rotate and try a new sport this is possible but progressing in it is almost impossible because having done it for one term it then becomes invite only. So if you have a YP who’s brilliant at a given sport already then Wellington is great. Unless you are in the top teams the sports tutoring is limited.
Many of the expected sports provisions also don’t exist. There is no athletics track. The indoor pool is not the quality you would expect. The outdoor pool has been shut down ( ..which is a real shame. While it was tired the kids loved it in the summer.) Rowing has also been dropped.
The gym is contentious and many YP won’t use it (full of alpha boys) Given it’s open to the public, hours of access are limited.
