Learning French in France - summer school

DD16 is doing French A-level and we wondered if she might benefit from a week/couple of weeks learning French in France on a course or a language school, next summer. Does anyone have any reccomendations or experience of this? Are they worth it?

My DD did this one in Antibes, and absolutely loved it. Her french was much better when she came back too, because during the activities she was speaking it in a casual context and so her speaking felt much more natural. French language camp in Antibes | Program for kids and teens

I would only send her to the South of France if she is white, very self-confident and alert to danger. I know several girls who made awful experiences.

My daughter spent two weeks in La Rochelle last summer and had a great time at this school: https://www.wellcom-langues-larochelle.fr/ The school is in walking distance to the beach. The public transport system is very good and there are a lot of bikes everywhere, so it is easy to get around. La Rochelle is very busy in the summer, but it is mostly French families and feels safe.

In case you are in London, the Alliance Francaise offers 10 week GCSE and A-level prep courses which are also very good.

Can I ask where in the South they had bad experiences? My DD isn't white, nor particularly confident and wasn't especially street smart when she went to Antibes, so I'm curious as to whether it's that area or somewhere else!

My DS17 did a week in Cannes with CESA Languages - full board, met at the airport by staff and taken back. Lessons in the morning, activities in the afternoon, allowed to leave campus >16y in the evening with a 10pm curfew. He really enjoyed it and benefited from it. He’s a responsible lad and also introverted, it was the first time he flew alone, and he found being « on » in company all the time quite tiring, but was buzzing at the confidence he gained from it. Would recommend. (We holiday in France every year and he went on this week by himself not long after we’d done two weeks already so was a bit acclimatised).

Thanks@MotherOfCatBoy, that kind of structure nakes it feel more manageable and I was wondering about holidaying at the same time or crossing over a bit.
