Can you recommend a progressive school

Hi, we are looking for a progressive school for our AUDHD daughter for a year 9 place. She doesn’t have EHCP. We need a small class size, nurturing environment, progressive thinking, heavy on art, drama, music and nature.

Happy to consider state and independent. We currently live in Oxfordshire but we are wanting to move to either the Brighton/ Hastings/St Leonard’s area or Cotswolds/Somerset.

The move is for school but also for us lifestyle wise, we are looking to live in a town with a good community vibe, arty/creative, love books shops, interiors shops, cafe culture, chilled liberal people.

Does anyone know the perfect place to live and send daughter to school or are we expecting too much 😂

For small classes at secondary you'd have to go private, which I can't advise on sorry, but I know a lot of the private school posts tend to be on the general 'Education' board so you could do a post there specifically about private school recommendations in those areas and hopefully there'll be lots of people to help.

Bedales?

Like a PP said, you have to go private for all that.

There’s a new school in Sussex that looks interesting called Atelier 21, which might tick a lot of your boxes. I have a feeling that there are buses from Brighton / Hove.

Is she currently in year 9 or year 9 in September?

Small class sizes are not going to be an option in the state sector unless you are in a specialist school for additional needs. Where I live in Somerset would probably tick a lot of boxes and there's lots of options in Bristol for schools or a few outside of the city - mine are grown up so can't help with what their ethos is but I see the Sidcot bus and I know people with grandchildren there.

Sidcot came to mind immediately (as would some of the other Quaker schools, but Sidcot is in North Somerset).
