Has anyone's DC done this? Mine is in Y13 and doing sculpture and I'm concerned that his work could be better. The teacher has said his standard is good (predicted A/B) and doesn't have any concerns but I feel the boards (instead of sketchbooks) could be of a much higher quality and that this is where DS could raise his grade.

I can't find any examples of what the boards should look like beyond my ideas, which are partly influenced by the amazing books produced by a friend's DD who got an A* in textiles at a different sixth form ('Mum, it's a different subject, you don't understand...'). The school's grades in the subject were not great last year so I'm not so convinced by the teacher's 'doing fine' response.

Any experience?

A/B is pretty good. Why do they need to raise their grade? I'd feel pretty crap if my parent had thought this about my schoolwork.

It comes from years of experience with DS (and my other DC) - teachers saying 'doing fine/carry on as you are' and predicting grades between 7-9 at GCSE, As at A level and then DC being disappointed when they have got 5s or Bs and Cs. Particularly frustrating when the NEA element has got low grades in the final overall mark.

A predicted A/B is pretty good but the school has already warned that predictions are usually higher than achieved. Also, as the universities' offers are AAA, anything that DS can do now to contribute towards getting an A rather than a B should be actioned while he still has the chance.
