Move to Surrey

Hello wise mums - my husband and I are looking to move to Surrey with our 3 boys - but we can’t decide on an area. Main thing for me is where are the best state mixed secondary schools? Do they have grammar schools in Surrey? Both boys seem to be quite academic and sporty so keen we make the right decision. Current areas we are thinking are West Byfleet, Farnham, Haselmere or Guildford. Thank you

The Catholic schools in Surrey are superb, some of the best in the country, not just for results, but pastoral care aswell.

Must admit I had no idea there were any specifically catholic schools in Guildford! All the Guildford kids I know go to County or George Abbot. A lot of them come to Godalming for sixth form.

St Peter’s is a top Catholic secondary in Guildford, and has 4-5 feeder primaries including St Thomas and St Joseph’s. Many parents in Guildford baptise for those schools, especially as they want to avoid Christ College and Kings for secondary.

Ah, maybe I just don't know any catholics!

Ah yeah, we had to be fake CofE to get into our village junior school. Not the infants, which despite being CofE doesn't discriminate. But once they hit Y3 you have to pretend to be CofE to be guaranteed a place at the juniors next door. Madness.
