Why did you choose Trinity over Whitgift or vise versa

We are busy looking at schools. We have gone to see both Trinity and Whitgift and liked both of them. Wondering the reasons why you chose Whitgift over trinity? Have heard Whitgift is very sporty and more traditional. Triniy more musical and smaller intake.
if son isn’t super sporty would whitgift be ok or would he feel like an outsider?

are your boys currently at the schools?thank you

We chose Trinity, but it was 12 years ago. I don't think it's changed significantly though (DD only left 2 years ago).
It's very much an all round school. Boys are encouraged to participate in all areas.
It is very sporty, and very musical, and has a good drama scene.
The academics are obviously very important, but pupils are encouraged to have other interests too.
We chose it because it seemed to have a good ethos - very much encouraging pupils to see what they can do to help others, to look beyond the school.
It is very supportive and caring.
My DS started in Y6, DD joined in the 6th form.

Worth knowing that Trinity has a co-ed sixth form, but Whitgift is all boys, if that is a factor for you. Other reason I know of from friends choosing one over the other - Trinity is much more modern and "purpose built" whereas Whitgift looks nicer but possibly less practical. Whitgift has boarders, Trinity doesn't.

Pretty much this. One son in L6 (loving the girls and parties!), one left last year. Both had/have friends at Whitgift. I know great boys at both. I know a few arrogant little shits and they are mainly W associated. That's the only difference for me (and I'm biased obviously), a slight trend to arrogance in a small proportion of the W boys, and by no means all. This opinion is anecdotal, of course, but somehwat backed up for me because i get the train to London with both sets of boys, getting off at S Croydon for W and E Croydon for T, and the (very few) times I've seen minor bullying on the trains, its been W boys. Also at ds BD party last year, the few lairy boys getting a bit out of hand were W rugby A team.

So boys will be boys pretty much, W slightly attracts this more? T slightly tempered by the girls in 6th form? Dunno, as long as you are not a family that encourages arrogance then it doesn't matter I dont think, both great schools and, as I say, I know some great 16/17/18/19 y old boys (and girls in the case of T) from both.

We originally chose T (well ds1 did) because of this slight vibe difference. Ds2 wanted coed 6th form.

Both are super sporty btw and both have boys who hate sport in.
